How to Make the Toilet Paper Roll Santa Claus

What you need:

  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • paper roll
  • black paper
  • white paper
  • color paper (red, yellow, and pink)
  • cotton balls
  • two googly eyes
  • one red pom-pom

Step by Step Tutorial

Have kids apply glue to the paper roll and wrap a piece of red color paper around it.

Step 1

To create Santa’s clothes, have them cut out a white paper strip and glue it on the toilet paper roll.

Step 2

The Belt

Next cut a black strip to create the belt, apply glue, and attach it to Santa’s body.

Step 3

The belt needs a buckle, so have the kids cut out a smaller yellow rectangle and glue it onto the belt.

Step 4

Now, they’ll need to cut a smaller rectangle from black paper and glue the part onto the yellow piece.

Step 5

The Santa’s Head

Children need to cut a larger rectangle out of yellow or other skin-colored paper and glue it to the top part of the toilet roll.

Step 6

The Christmas Hat

Have them cut a halfcircle out of red color paper. This part is a bit tricker for younger kids. To modify this Santa craft for younger kids, have them cut a triangle shape and glue it onto the paper roll (skipping making the paper cone).

Step 7

Create a paper cone by bending the half-circle and gluing the ends together to create a cone.

Step 8

The hat is almost done. Have the children glue it to the top of Santa’s body (using tape is easiest).

Step 9

It’s time to use the cotton balls. Have the kids glue a piece of it to the bottom part of the hat.

Step 10

The Santa’s Beard

To make Santa’s beard grab more cotton balls, spread the glue around Santa Claus’s face, and attach the cotton balls.

Step 11

The Eyes

Have them kids glue the googly eyes on Santa’s face.

Step 12

The Cheeks and Nose

The Santa will look fantastic if kids cut two tiny round cheeks out of pink paper (or draw them), glue them on, and then attach a red pom-pom as a Santa’s nose.

Step 13

The Arms

Have kids cut a red strip, apply some glue to the end of it, and attach a piece of cotton wool to it.

Step 14

Glue the arm to the back of the paper roll.

Step 15

They’ll need to repeat the process to create the other hand.

Step 16

Have them create a tiny sphere out of cotton balls (or use white pom poms) and glue it to the top of Santa’s hat.

Step 17

The toilet paper roll Santa Clause is ready!

Toilet Paper Roll Santa Claus Idea

Here are a few more ideas on how you can make your toilet paper roll Santa crafts.

If you make a small round (or square) cut at the bottom it will look like your Santa Claus has legs.

Santa Claus looks super cute with pink cheeks. Use a hole puncher and make small pink circles that kids can then glue to their craft.

You can also use a Q-tip and dip it in pink paint to make the cheeks.

If you want to make things even easier, you can just make the Santa head and skip the red coat.

Red or pink pom poms are perfect for making Santa’s nose.
