It’s time to let the dogs out! Your kids can make the cutest and most colorful toilet paper roll dog craft ever. It’s so easy to turn a regular toilet paper roll into a cool-looking pouch, even if you don’t stick to the regular colors (and truth be told, we love how the colorful ones turn out).
You can make these with paints or with colored paper, and if you are not fond of toilet paper rolls, they can easily be swapped with paper kitchen towel rolls or just rolled up construction paper into a tube.

How to Make the Toilet Paper Roll Dog Craft
What you need:
- toilet paper roll
- color paper
- cardstock (brown)
- markers (black and white)
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
Step-by-Step Tutorial
You will need one toilet paper roll for making one dog (although you can also make two short ones by cutting the toilet paper roll in half).
Let kids either paint the toilet paper roll or have them wrap the paper roll with colored paper (apply glue on the paper or the paper roll and wrap it around).
Make the ears. If you want them to be the same shape, fold a piece of cardstock in half, draw the ear shape on the folded part, and cut it out.
This way, you get two identical shapes.
Apply glue on the back of the ears and stick them onto the toilet paper roll, one on each side.
Cut out a small circle for the snout and glue it in place.
Use a marker to draw two black eyes on the paper roll. You can also use googly eyes, googly eye stickers or cut out the eyes from black paper.
Let kids draw other details on the dog’s head.
With a white gel pen or even better, a white chalk marker, draw white spots inside the eyes to give them that magical sparkle.
Finish off your furry friend by drawing a few dashed lines on the bottom part of the paper roll.
This gives it a nice fur look.
Enjoy the crafting adventure with your kids.
They can make some more in different colors!
You can have the kids play around with different types of ears as well.
