How to Assemble the Build a Reindeer Puppet Template
What you need:
- our printable template (comes with 5 Christmas characters)
- scissors
- glue
- coloring supplies
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Print out the template, and let the creativity flow! Kids can add their favorite colors to the base, or you can print this page on colored paper. We chose a warm brown color for ours.
First, have kids cut out the base and the reindeer’s ears.
Have them color the antlers (or use them as a stencil to trace on dark brown paper).
Then, have children cut out all the parts.
The reindeer will feature antlers, eyes, and a nose crafted from five circles.
Creating the Nose
Have kids trace one of the circles five or more times on red color paper.
Then, have them cut out the red shapes.
Have kids fold every circle in half.
To create the nose, have them apply glue on half of the circle and attach the other folded circle onto it.
So, have them apply glue and start attaching the circle halves.
All five circles need to be glued together.
Rudolph the Reindeer has a nose like that!
Have kids make folds on the base card by following the dashed lines.
Then, have them apply glue to the flaps.
Fold the base card together and press down so the glue will set.
The hand puppet base is ready!
The Ears
Have children glue the ears to the back of it.
Then apply the antlers, too.
Have them glue the eyes to the puppet.
And lastly, have kids glue on the red nose!
We placed it in the center.
The reindeer hand puppet is ready for storytelling!
We love how it turned out!
