How to Make the Toilet Paper Roll Elephant
What you need:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- toilet paper roll
- gray paper or cardstock
- color paper (light purple, light blue, and pink)
- white paper
- black marker
- white liner (or white gel pen)
- sharp craft knife (for adults only)
Step by Step Tutorial
Start with a toilet paper roll.

Cut a piece of gray paper to fit around it.

Now glue it on.

Trim any excess.

Adults only: Use a sharp knife to make a small cut on each side of the roll.
Optional: You can skip this step if you don’t want to use the craft knife and glue the ears to the sides of the elephant’s body.

These will hold the elephant’s ears.

Fold gray paper in half, draw one big floppy ear, and cut it out (you’ll get two ears at once!)

Take one gray ear and place it on folded light purple paper to trace around it for the smaller inner ear.
Cut out the shape to get two inner ears, then cut both slightly off so they fit nicely inside the gray ears (see how we cut the inner ear).

Slide the finished ears into the cuts you made earlier.
Optional: If you didn’t use the craft knife, glue them to the sides of the paper roll.

Draw eyes, eyebrows, and a big smile with a black marker.

Add a touch of sparkle to your eyes with white liner.

Fold white paper in half, draw toes, cut them out, and glue them to the bottom of the roll for the back feet.

For the front legs, cut two gray rectangles and add white paper toes to the bottom.
Glue them to the front of the elephant.

Cut a trunk shape from light blue paper, and glue it above the mouth.

Add detail lines with a black marker.

Finish with two pink paper circles for cheeks.
