How to Make the Toilet Paper Roll Cactus
What you need:
- scissors
- glue
- toilet paper roll
- construction paper (green, red, and black)
- markers (green and black)
Step by Step Tutorial
Grab a toilet paper roll and cut it almost in half.
Don’t worry if it’s imperfect – cacti come in all shapes and sizes!
Begin by cutting a green rectangular piece of construction paper, ensuring the height approximately matches the height of your paper roll.
Have your kids draw cactus spines with a green marker – gently wavy lines running vertically on the rectangle.
Have them continue drawing the cactus spines throughout the green paper, bringing their prickly plant to life.
Roll and glue the green paper around the toilet paper roll, leaving some space at the bottom.
It’s starting to look like a cactus!
Secure the paper with glue, ensuring it stays in place.
Have kids cut out two circle eyes from white paper and glue them onto their cactus friend.
Cut out a tongue shape from red paper, fold the end, apply glue on the flap, and stick it on.
The cactus can now taste the desert air!
Have children use a black marker to draw the cactus’s eyes, bringing it to life.
Cut out a cactus “hand” from green paper and draw thorns.
Apply glue to the flap and glue it to the side of the cactus.
Repeat for the other side.
For the final touch, have kids cut tall triangular shapes from the green paper and attach them inside the paper roll on the front side, creating depth and texture.
