Having kids make their very own Halloween handprint mask adds a whole new layer of fun to this spooky celebration.
You can keep it super simple and just decorate it with paints, or you can challenge your kids to create all kinds of different characters or animals – birds being a great example.

It’s all about candies and spooky costumes when it comes to Halloween. That and making the coolest Halloween crafts! This one is especially great as a classroom project as everyone will be able to make their own unique mask. Once done why not take a group photo with the whole class?
How to Make the Halloween Handprint Mask
What you need:
- construction paper (black or any other color)
- glue
- skewer, large craft stick or paper straw if working with younger kids
- scissors
- paints (optional)
Step by Step Tutorial
If working with a skewer, you can have the kids decorate it with a ribbon.
Apply glue on the fabric ribbon (or use paper) and wrap it around the skewer.
Set aside and let the glue set.
Fold a sheet of construction paper (in our case black) in half, place your hand on it (fingers facing the open end), and trace around it.
Cut out (make sure to not cut the fold).
Unfold the construction paper hands.
Pencil down the spot for the opening for the eyes on the mask.
Cut out the holes for the eyes.
Decorate the mask however you see fit. Draw dots, or add shapes in different colors from construction paper… Anything goes!
If you want to give the mask a little volume so it hugs the face, flip it around and glue the “thumbs” together.
Take the skewer, paper straw, or craft stick and stick it on the mask (on one side).
All done! Your Halloween handprint mask is now complete.
