Toilet paper roll crafts, although we usually use paper towel rolls, are a frugal and popular crafting material.
You can make all kinds of wonderful creations with something as simple as a paper roll (just check these toilet paper roll bees for example).
There is also many different ways to make them, we usually paint the roll and decorate it to make a character, but this time we are doing it a bit differently.
Thes butterflies require just a bit more skill as you need to cut the roll (or they need to be pre-cut by a parent/ teacher). But actually making the toilet paper roll butterflies is pretty easy.
How to Make a Toilet Paper Butterfly Craft
What you need:
- toilet paper roll (one or more, alternatively kitchen paper towel rolls or store bought craft rolls)
- white school glue
- paint brushes
- canvas or cardstock
Follow the step by step instructions
Press the paper roll down to make it flat.
Start by cutting the paper roll to 6 somewhat equal parts. Push If 6 from one toilet paper rolls seems to difficult, use 2 paper rolls.
Set aside the 5 and take one. Cut at one end (along the fold). Fold over, glue at bottom to form the antenna, hold together for a while for the glue to set (or use a clothespins or paper clips to hold together).
Prepare your canvas (you can paint it too). Dip one side of paper roll mini rolls into glue and stick it to the center (bottom half) of the canvas. This will make the body of the butterfly.
Dip other rolls into glue too and stick them on the canvas, forming the butterfly wings.
Stick the antenna above the body.
Let the glue dry. Pick your favorite paint colors. Paint the inside of toilet paper rolls.
