Christmas is a delightful festive season that brings joy to people of all ages! There are numerous activities and Christmas crafts you can enjoy either at home or in your classroom.
Crafting all kinds of Christmas puppets is one of our favorite activities (and sharing them adds to the joy). Kids love creating these, and the excitement continues once they are completed.
If you’re creating these crafts in the classroom, consider printing our Christmas coloring pages or our handy how to draw a Santa guide to have on hand for early finishers.
How to Assemble the Build a Santa Puppet Template
What you need:
- our printable template (comes with 5 Christmas characters)
- scissors
- glue
- coloring supplies
Step by Step Tutorial
Print the sheets on colored or white paper (if you want kids to color).
We printed on beige paper for Santa’s body, ears, and nose.
Let kids cut out all the template parts of the first sheet.
Color Santa’s hat on the second sheet – vivid red will look great!
Then, cut out all the pieces – the hat, two eyes, and a white rectangle for the beard.
Make folds along the dashed lines.
Make sure all the folds are sharp.
Apply glue to the flaps on the areas with the word glue on them.
Fold the card in half and press down gently so the glue sets.
The puppet base is ready.
Grab the white beard rectangle piece. If you don’t want to have any lines visible, place it over another white paper.
Cut along the rectangle so the white paper will be the same size.
We now have two of the same pieces.
Place the one with dashed lines on top of the blank one.
Make cuts along the dashed lines.
Let’s make the beard curly. Roll each strip of paper (you can use a pencil).
Glue the hat on top of the base.
Next are the eyes.
Glue the ears to each side of the face.
Glue the beard to Santa’s face.
Fold along the dashed lines.
Apply glue to the flaps, bend the paper, and glue it below the eyes, with one end glued over the beard.
All done!
How do you like your Santa?
We think this Santa puppet looks fantastic!
