How to Make Printable Sea Animal Puppets
What you need:
- our printable template
- coloring supplies (optional)
- scissors
- glue
Step by Step Tutorial
These paper puppets work out well on regular print paper, but it’s always better to use cardstock or other heavier paper.
We’ll show you how to make a sea turtle puppet, but all puppets are made in the same way.
If your kids will make the black and white version of the puppets, have them color the template first and then move onto cutting.
Cut out all the parts, including the two finger straps.
There are three dashed lines on the mouth of the title, one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the middle.
Have kids make folds along all of the dashed lines.
Once they make all the folds, have them push the middle fold “in”, this way the mouth of the puppets will close.
The body of the puppet is ready. Now let’s make the handles.
Take the paper straps and make folds along the dashed lines on both ends. Apply glue on the are with the word glue on it.
Then glue it on the back of the puppet (on the folded back part).
Hold together for a little while for the glue to set.
Repeat the step with the second paper rectangle and glue it to the bottom part.
Let the glue dry, then place your fingers inside the straps to open and close the turtle’s mouth.
