How to Make the Paper Ring Beetle
What You Need:
- printable template
- pencil
- scissors
- glue stick
- 2 shades of brown papers
- markers (black, brown, and pink)
- googly eyes
- black pipe cleaner
Step by Step Tutorial
Cut out the template.
The Beetle
Trace the shape of the beetle on light brown paper, and cut it out.
Trace the horns, the thorax, and the wings, on dark brown paper, then cut them out.
The Horns and the Eyes
Glue the horns and the googly eyes on the head.
The Face
Draw the mouth and the cheeks with a pink marker.
The Wings
Glue on the wings.
The Thorax
Let’s glue on the beetle’s thorax – when you glue it on, make sure you press down well!
The Legs
Cut six small pieces from a black chenille stick.
Try to make them the same size.
Draw black lines on the wings of the beetle.
The lines don’t have to be perfect but try your hardest to make them look nice.
Bend the chenille pieces and glue them under the beetle’s body.
The Ring
Cut a strip of paper large enough to fit around the fingers.
You can always use a ruler to make the line as straight as possible.
Glue the two ends together, making a ring to glue on the beetle.
Use your finger as a measurement.
Glue the two ends together, making a ring.
Glue the ring under the beetle’s body.
Your beetle is all done!
How do you like it?
We found this beetle ring to be a neat accessory.
And, you can wear it anywhere you like.
You could make a bunch of them in different colors.
Let kids decide in what color they want their beetle to be.
Have fun crafting!
