How to Make the Paper Plate Toucan Craft
What you need:
- paper plate
- pencil
- scissors
- glue stick
- black marker
- color papers (green, black, and red)
- markers (black and red)
- acrylic paint (black, green, red, and yellow)
- paintbrush
Step by Step Tutorial
The Body
Use your pencil and draw a shape shown in the image below.
Cut it out. You can help your child with this part if they struggle with cutting.
Draw a line above the cut you made.
Our toucan will have its beak here.
Create a half circle like shown, right on the paper plate. Our toucan will have its face here.
Go ahead and paint the half circle yellow.
The other shape will be in green color – the beak part.
Go ahead and paint everything else except the pointy triangle (the end of the beak) black.
The extra piece that we cut out before will also be black.
We will use it for the toucan’s tail a few steps later.
Paint the space on the right side of the green part red. It will be the tip of the toucan’s beak.
If you want to paint this part with a different color, go ahead.
Draw a red mouth on the toucan.
Cut out a green circle
Put a black dot in the green circle for the eye.
Glue the eye on the toucan.
Take the piece of paper you colored in black (the tail), and glue it onto the bird.
Draw a feather onto the black paper.
Now let’s draw a smaller feather onto the red paper.
Add the red feather to the bottom of the black feather.
Glue the wing onto the bird.
