Paper Apple Mosaic Art Lesson

We do love making paper crafts… But with making paper crafts, there is usually a lot of scrap paper that could be headed to the trash can, and this is something we don’t like. So why not save up the scrap paper and make paper apple mosaic art with it (or any other paper mosaic art).

This is one great way to use up scrap paper, and it’s very creative. Pieces of all sizes become useful when you are making paper collages.

How to Make Paper Apple Mosaic Art

What you need:

• printable template (optional)
• color paper scraps (green, blue, brown, and red)
• black cardstock
• pencil
• scissors
• glue stick
• white marker

Step by Step Tutorial

Prepare a sheet of black cardstock and have the kids draw an apple outline shape. Other colors of paper work out well too, but black gives a nice contrast to the paper mosaic pieces.

For younger kids, you can trace the apple outline with a white marker or chalk to create a clearer guide for the mosaic art.

Cut out small pieces of paper. Squares are great but any shape will do.

Apply glue to a small area on the inside of the apple and stick the paper pieces on the glue.

Continue gluing the red paper pieces until the apple is completely filled.

Cut smaller pieces to fill any voids.

Repeat the process with brown paper for the apple’s stem.

And green paper for the leaf.

To create the background, have kids cut or tear blue paper pieces and start gluing them to the cardstock.

Fill up all the area designated to be the background.

Complete the artwork by gluing green (grass) or brown (table) paper pieces on the bottom part of the paper.

Once all the elements are in place, your paper apple mosaic art is finished!
