Let’s make a super simple ghost silhouette Halloween art together. You can give this one a splash of colors or stick to one color only, either way you will end up with a gorgeous work of art.
This Halloween art idea is great for kids of all ages, from toddlers (with some help from parents), to older kids.

We made ours with bright colors as it’s a happy ghost, but your kids can also stick to more traditional Halloween color choices.
Orange and purple would work out great for this one, black too.
How to Make the Ghost Silhouette Halloween Art
What you need:
- printable template
- scissors
- white construction paper
- sponge dabber
- paint (colors of your choice – we used green, red, and yellow)
- black marker
Step by Step Tutorial
It’s best to work with a sheet of white paper, but other colors will work as well. We recommend using construction paper / heavier print paper.
Print out our ghost template or draw your own ghost.
Cut out the ghost outline and place it on the paper. You can secure it with a bit of washi tape (or similar) under the ghost, especially if working with younger kids.
Have your kids dab paint around the ghost template.
Switch to another paint and continue dabbing.
Add another color; more colors equals more fun.
Kids can add as many colors as they want.
Let the paints dry a little then carefully remove the ghost template.
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Draw eyes and a mouth on the ghost with a black marker. You can also use googly eyes.
All done!
