We made a fun paper plate Chinese dragon puppet a while ago, but this time around, we wanted to make something that’s a little simpler.
How to Make the Easy Chinese Dragon Craft
What you need:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue stick
- acrylic paint (red)
- paintbrush
- color paper (green, red, light blue, and yellow)
- 2 googly eyes
- black marker
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Prepare a paper plate.
Have the kids paint it red or in another Chinese dragon like color.
Let it dry, and once dry, fold it in half.
Using a black marker, draw a wavy line from one side to the other.
Add two wavy lines underneath, creating a snake-body appearance.
Cut out the dragon’s body.
The Chinese dragon needs legs! Have kids draw a leg on a folded paper.
Cut out the legs and have kids glue them to the body.
Have them cut another piece – this time in a zig-zag shape resembling the dragon’s tail and glue it to the end of the body.
Have kids create the head parts by drawing a zig-zag shape on paper.
Cut the piece out.
Have them cut another, this time a smaller piece out of yellow paper, and glue it on top.
The dragon will look fabulous when kids add another smaller piece in red color.
Cut out a face-like shape from light blue paper and glue it to the mane.
Glue the head to the front part of the body.
The dragon needs eyes.
It’s time for some detailing! Use black marker and draw zig-zag patterns to the Chinese dragon’s body.
Finished!
Your kids’ Chinese dragon is now festive and ready to celebrate!
You can place it anywhere you like.
Have fun!
