Who loves owls? We do! Such a fun bird although it can be very loud at just the wrong times (when you are trying to sleep and it decides to do it’s whoo whoo’s right next to the open window – but still a cutie pie nonetheless).

We also do love super easy construction paper crafts, as this is after all one of kids favorite (and teacher favorite) crafting materials out there.

This craft idea has lots of cutting and gluing so it really will make a good fine motor and scissor skill practice for your little ones, plus it’s fun.

Construction Paper Owl Craft for Kids

Let’s make a Construction Paper Owl

What you need:

  • scissors
  • glue
  • black marker
  • pencil or crayon for hand tracing
  • circle paper punch (kids will love punching circles)

Colorful construction paper, pick any colors you like! These are the colors we went with:

  • brown construction paper for the body
  • orange construction paper for the wings
  • pink and purple construction paper for the  feathers
  • white paper for eyes
  • yellow paper for beak

Any other decorating material you might think of.

Or Follow these Step by Step Instructions

Draw an oval owl shape on the paper. Draw two pointy ends on one side for the owl “ears”.

Cut the shape out.

Trace your hands.

Cut them out.

Cut two white circles for the eyes and draw in black dots.

Glue the eyes on the body.

Cut the beak and glue it between the eyes.

Start punching circles! We used two colors but you can use as many as you like, the more colors the more fun.

Glue the circles on the body, let them overlap a little.

Glue on handprints.
