Kid-made but much more substantial than a papercraft these gobblers will last for years and years.
Wood Scrap Turkey Craft
You will need:
- scraps of wood-2×4, 4×4, etc…
- large wood craft sticks
- googly eyes
- orange felt
- paint, markers, washi tape, patterned paper
- sandpaper/sanding block
- hot glue or tacky craft glue
Step by Step Instructions
Give your wood scrap a quick smooth down with sandpaper or a sanding block to remove any rough areas, other than that don’t worry too much about it, the more rustic the better.
Paint large craft sticks in various bright colors and allow to dry. You could also use markers or cover them with pretty washi tapes for some pattern.
While the feathers are drying glue googly eyes to the front of your block and add an orange felt beak.
Paint on a couple feet with orange or yellow paint, don’t fret about getting it perfect, just paint on a little smear and they will be recognized as feet.
Once all the paint is dry flip over your wood block scrap and affix painted “feathers” halfway up the back with a generous amount of glue to hold them in place, fan them out and layer them so they really show.
Let the glue dry completely.
Make as many as you like.
