If you want to do a simple (and colorful) Halloween art with your kids, do give our silhouette car art project a go! While fun all year round, this one shines around Halloween, especially if you use a color palette that matches the season.
We have a handy template that goes along this art lesson, but it can be easily done without it as well.

How to Make Silhouette Cat Art Project
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- pencil
- coloring supplies (brush markers are best, crayons are a great choice as well)
- black craft paint
- paintbrush
Step by Step Tutorial
Begin by printing the grid template or drawing the grid on a sheet of paper. We also have a template with the cat silhouette included on it.
Have kids color each square with a different color, making a colorful mosaic. Any color goes, but for Halloween themed art project, we think orange, yellow, pink and purple are great chocies.
If you are using markers, we really recommend using brush markers to color in the grid, as regular markers do take a while.
The first row is done!
Once the grid is colored in, draw a cat outline on top of the colored grid with a pencil.
Paint the inner shape of the cat with black paint.
Slow and steady gets the job done.
Paint in the whole silhouette.
You can also outline the edges of the paper with black paint (basically making a frame).
