Bring out your paints in all the colors of the rainbow as it’s time to make some spring crafts with your kids. Spring is all about flowers and bugs, well a few other things too but these two themes seem to be taking the spotlight.

We already made a butterfly windsock a while ago, so though this cute ladybug windsock should join in the fun too. Make a dozen of ladybugs or a mix of different bugs, whatever you make, this one is bound to look great.

How to make a Ladybug Windsock Toilet Paper Roll Craft

What you need:

  • paper roll – make one out of construction paper or use toilet paper roll
  • tissue paper in spring colors (think grass)
  • green paint
  • paintbrush
  • black construction paper
  • red construction pape
  • wiggle eye stickers or googly eyes
  • black marker
  • glue
  • scissors
  • yarn
  • single hole paper punch
  • optional: large round paper punches

Step by Step Instructions

Start by painting the paper roll with green paint. If you have branded paper rolls (with logos on them), more than one layer of paint might be needed.

Let the paint dry. Once dry, punch two holes on one side of the paper roll. The holes need to be one across the other.

String the yarn through both holes.

Tie the yarn.

Make the ladybug.

Cut one large black circle and one large red circle. Also cut the smaller black circle (paper punches are really helpful here and kids love them).

Glue the small black circle on the larger one, to make the body of your ladybug.

Draw black dots on the red circle.

Cut the red circle in half, to make the wings.

Stick on two eyes on the head.

Glue the wings on the body of the ladybug.

Glue the ladybug on the paper roll.

Cut long strips of tissue paper and stick them on the toilet paper roll.

All done. Your Ladybug Windsock Toilet Paper Roll Craft is ready for hanging.
