How to Make the Origami Heart

What you need:

  • origami or a square piece of paper (red or another color)

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Start with a sheet of square paper. If you are new to origami, we recommend you use origami or other two colored paper as this way it’s easier to see where you are at. But as this project is easy enough, regular paper will also do just fine.

Step 1

Fold the paper in half.

Step 2

Then unfold it and turn it face-down (colored part facing your working surface).

Step 3

Fold in half again (colored side on the outside).

Step 4

Unfold it again. Fold one half towards the middle.

Step 5

Flip over (the part you folded should be facing you).

Step 6

Fold the right bottom corner toward the center.

Step 7

Repeat the step on the other side.

Step 8

Flip over (the pointy part should be facing you). Fold the right side to the middle.

Step 9

Repeat with the left side.

Step 10

Now fold the upper right corner towards the center.

Step 11

Do the same with the left one.

Step 12

You now have a hexagon like shape in front of you. Carefully bend the top part.

Step 13

And fold it into the “pocket” on the lower part of the hexagon.

Step 14

Then, press firmly to make a strong crease.

Step 15

Unfold the right top part gently.

Step 16

Run your fingers across the folds.

Step 17

Repeat on the left side.

Step 18

Grap the top rightmost corner and fold it.

Step 19

Repeat on the left side.

Step 20

To complete the heart shape, fold the two topmost corners down a little.

Step 21

All done!

Step 22

Flip the heart around, and ta-da!

Step 23

The heart origami is complete!
