How to Make the Hogs and Kisses Valentine’s Day Card
What you need:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- white cardstock
- color paper (lighter and darker pink)
- black marker
Step by Step Tutorial
Have kids grab a white cardstock and fold it in half to create a card.
Provide your kids with the lighter pink paper for the hog’s head.
Have them draw a semicircle on the paper, ensuring it fits the folded card’s width.
The height of the head should be smaller than the card.
Then, have the kids cut out the shape.
Glue it to the bottom of the folded card, then press it down to stick.
Next, come the ears!
Have your kids cut out two triangles from the same lighter pink paper.
Encourage them to fold each triangle slightly to give them a 3D effect.
Have them attach the ears to the head with glue.
Have children grab a darker pink paper and cut an ellipse shape to create the hog’s snout.
Glue the shape to the head.
Hand your kids a black marker and have them draw two eyes.
Next are the two nose holes and a smiling mouth.
Have children write the message “Hogs and Kisses” on the top of the card using the black marker or any other colorful markers they like.
We find it amusing because it cleverly wishes “hugs” in a light-hearted way, playing with the presence of a hog on the card.
