Handmade Reindeer Christmas Card

As the holiday season draws near, there’s nothing quite like the joy of crafting handmade cards to share with loved ones. Today, we are sharing a simple-to-follow handmade reindeer Christmas card tutorial for your kids to make.

This one has a little 3D effect to it, so while it won’t fit in an envelope, it will bring that extra festive joy. We do have another super simple reindeer card idea that’s a little bit similar to this one but will nicely fit into an envelope.

How to Make the Handmade Reindeer Christmas Card

What you need:

  • scissors
  • glue
  • construction paper (light brown and light blue)
  • color paper (dark brown)
  • white paper
  • black marker
  • red pom-pom

Step by Step Tutorial

The Card

Start by making the base for the card. If you are making this with younger kids you can use a whole sheet of paper for one card. For older kids, cut the paper in half, making two cards out of one sheet.

Step 1

Fold the sheet of construction paper in half. The base for the card is done.

Step 2

Cut out a U shape out of light brown paper for the deer’s body. The shape shouldn’t be higher than half the height of the card.

Step 3

Glue the body on the card.

Step 4

Cut a wide strip of paper – it should be about the length of the card (a little bit longer or shorter is fine)

Step 5

Loop and glue the ends together.

Step 6

Now glue the paper loop on the card, just above the body.

Step 7

Take a sheet of darker brown paper for antlers – fold in half.

Step 8

Have the kids draw the antler shape on the folded paper and cut it out.

Step 9

They will get two antlers.

Step 10

Stick the anglers above the head.

Step 12

Cut two ear shapes and stick them on the card.

Step 13

Add eyes, either have the kids use googly eyes, googly eye stikers or white paper circles.

Step 14

If they used paper circles, have them draw black dots to complete the eyes.

Step 15

The reindeer needs a nose, so have kids grab a red pom-pom and glue it to the face.

Step 16

All done!

Step 17

Now, kids can add a personal message inside.

Step 18

Merry Christmas!
