How to Make the Fan Folded Paper Umbrella Craft
What you need:
- paper in different colors
- glue
- scissors
- markers
Step by Step Tutorial
Let’s start by making an umbrella. Regular print paper is best, as heavier papers will be harder to fold. Make a longer rectangle, in any color, and fold it all away across (accordion fold) along the longer side.
Gently unfold it, and if you wish, decorate your soon to be umbrella.
Fold it together again, and fold in half.
Glue or staple the ends together.
Take a sheet of light blue (or dark blue or white) paper. Construction paper is best, as this will serve as the background for your display craft.
Cut an umbrella handle shape (younger kids can just cut a straight paper strip) and glue it on your background. Alternatively you can also have the kids draw it.
Apply glue on the back of your fan folded umbrella and stick it on the paper, aligning it with the umbrella handle.
Hold in place for a little bit for the glue to set.
Cut cloud shapes out of white paper and stick them on the background. You can also have the kids paint the clouds or use cotton balls to make the clouds pop.
Lastly, draw the raindrops with a marker.
All done! Your fan folded paper umbrella craft is complete.
