This turkey certainly won’t be in trouble as our disguise a turkey as a knight printable template provides this lucky bird a perfect disguise.
There isn’t a Thanksgiving activity more fun than a good turkey in disguise project; you can use this knight disguise printout as an inspiration for your kids to design theirs on their own, or just use our free printable template to make the process a breeze (and focus on the writing aspect more).
We’ve also included a set of writing prompts that can be added to this one, as we do love a craft that also adds an educational element.

If your kids love all things fairy tale, this one is just for them. You can also pair it with our other fairy tale characters: be sure to check our turkey in mermaid disguise, unicorn turkey, and princess turkey.
Our favorite aspect of the printable template is its inclusion of both turkeys, one adorned with a knight costume and another without. This allows the turkey to easily don the knight outfit and take it off, providing an engaging experience for your kids.
How to Make the Turkey in Knight Disguise
What you need:
- our printable template (you can grab the knight outfit printout for free at the end of the tutorial, or get the whole set with over 25 outfits).
- coloring supplies (markers or crayons are best)
- scissors
- glue
Step by Step Tutorial
Start by having the kids color the base sheet (the one with text or the one with a small rectangle above the turkey).
You want this one to look like a regular turkey, so browns, yellows and orange colors are a great pick.
Next, take the printout that has just the turkey. This is where we make our disguise, so have the kids think about how they are going to color theirs.
We colored the body gray to look like armor and the tail green to look like a bush in the background. It can also be colored to look like a knight’s cape.
Color in the sheet with the disguise parts.
Have the kids cut out all the parts of the disguise as well as the turkey that was colored gray.
Apply glue on the parts of the knight disguise and stick them on the turkey.
Don’t forget about the shield and the sword, they make the disguise super convincing.
Take the sheet with the regular-looking turkey. There is a dashed line on that sheet, have the kids fold the paper along that line.
Apply glue on the folded part, at the center.
Stick on the turkey disguised as a knight, nicely aligning it with the regular-looking turkey bellow.
All done! Now this turkey can take his or her knight disguise on and off at will.
Add the writing papers and encourage your kids to write about the disguise and why they think it will work.
