How to Make Curly Beard Santa Craft

What you need:

  • our printable template (optional) or a hand-drawn Santa
  • white print paper
  • cardstock in any color of your choosing
  • scissors
  • glue

Step by Step Tutorial

Start by cutting paper strips. We made ours to be about a finger (half an inch) wide, and we cut them across the longer side of a letter-sized paper / A4 sheet.

If you are making this in the classroom and want to make the paper strips ahead of time, we recommend using a good paper cutter as it will make the work a whole lot faster than using the scissors. But both are fine. The paper strips also do not have to be the same width or length.

Cut out the Santa head printout.

Place it on top of the construction paper and gently make the outline around the head (you don’t need to make the outline around the hat.

This will make sticking the paper strips in just the right place a whole lot easier.

Apply glue, either directly on construction paper or on one end of the paper strips.

Stick the paper strips on the construction paper, following the outline you made with the pencil.

Wait for the glue to dry. Once dry, take the first paper strip and make a few turns to make a curl.

Apply glue at the end of the curl and stick it on the paper.

Hold in place for a little while for the glue to set and move to the next strand of beard.

If working with younger kids, you can also have them just wrinkle the paper strips or have them make zig zag folds.

Apply glue on the back of Santa’s head.

Stick it on top of the beard.

All done, this curly beard Santa craft is ready for display.
