Bees are some of the hardest-working little creatures around, and now kids can make their very own buzzy friend with this adorable craft stick bee craft! With just a few simple supplies and some bright yellow paint, a plain craft stick can be turned into the cutest little bee you’ve ever seen.
This is a great craft for spring when the real bees are out and about, but honestly, it’s fun to make any time of year.

How to Make the Craft Stick Bee Craft
What you need:
- scissors
- glue
- craft stick
- craft paint (yellow)
- paintbrush
- chenille sticks (yellow, black, and blue)
- googly eyes
- black colored paper
- black marker
Step by Step Tutorial
Start by grabbing a craft stick. The larger the better.
Have the kids paint the entire craft stick yellow, then set it aside to dry completely before moving on.
Tip: If you are short on time or are working with a large group, you can purchase pre-painted craft sticks. They come in all the primary colors (and most secondary).
Take a blue chenille stick, make a loop at one end, and wrap it around the craft stick to create the first wing.
Make a second loop with the remaining chenille stick and wrap it around the other side to finish off both wings.
Grab a yellow chenille stick and have kids wrap it firmly around the stick once above the wings.
Then continue wrapping it below the wings, but leave small spaces between each wrap.
Now take a black chenille stick and have kids wrap it around the spaces left between the yellow wraps to create the bee’s classic stripes.
Let kids glue two googly eyes onto the top of the craft stick and give their bee some personality!
Cut two small antennae shapes from black colored paper and help kids glue them above the eyes.
Using a black marker, have kids draw on a little smile to finish off the bee’s face.
And that’s it!
