Swirly Paper Peacock Craft for Kids

Are your kids ready to create one of the most magnificent birds out there? With our swirly paper peacock craft for kids, you can bring this paper bird craft to life. Kids will love seeing the swirly feathers made in signature peacock colors.

You can adjust this craft to be suitable for any age range – younger kids can work with fewer paper strips, and instead of swirling them, they can make zig-zag folds. Older kids, on the other hand, can work with a greater number of paper strips if you want to add a challenge for them.

How to Make Swirly Paper Peacock Craft for Kids

What you need:

• our printable template (optional) or a hand-drawn peacock
• white print paper
• cardstock in any color of your choosing
• scissors
• glue

Step by Step Tutorial

Prepare a construction paper of your choice (we chose a pink one) as a background. Print out the full-colored template, or have kids color the black and white one to make this peacock craft.

Cut out the peacock’s body and legs.

Place the peacock printout at the center of your background paper and trace around the body. This will mark the position of the body and make the next steps easier.

Apply glue inside the traced body.

We chose blue and green strips for our colorful bird, but kids can use any of their liking. Start sticking them on the background paper.

We used 12 paper strips, you can use more or less.

Start with one of the outer paper strips and make a couple of loops.

Apply glue to the end of the swirl.

Press it down and hold in place for a little while for the glue to set.

Have the kids repeat the process with all the other color strips.

Now glue on the peacock’s body.

And its legs.

All done!
