You can make this sunflower craft even more personal by adding a child’s photo in the middle.

How to Make the Sunflower Handprint Craft

What you need:

  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue
  • construction paper (brown, yellow, and green)
  • larger wooden craft stick
  • green paint
  • paintbrush
  • white print paper

Step by Step Tutorial

Start with yellow construction paper.

Step 1

Have your kids place their hand on the paper and have them trace around their hand with a pencil.

Step 2

You can stack more papers one on top of the other and cut out multiple handprints at once, or have the kids trace their hand on multiple sheets of paper.

Step 3

Let your kids show their cutting skills!

Step 4

You will need a couple of handprints to make one sunflower.

Step 5

Have them glue the handprints together in the palm area, stacking them on each other to create a sunflower petals.

Step 6

Then, cut out a circle from brown construction paper.

Step 7

You can also have the kids make incisions around the circle with scissors to give the sunflower more volume.

Step 8

All the way around.

Step 10

Then, fold the cut circle edge inwards, one flap at a time, to create the sunflower’s inner part.

Step 11

Have your kids glue the circle to the center of their handprint sunflower petals.

Paint a large craft stick with green paint. Once dry, glue it to the back of the sunflower to create the stem.

Step 12

Add a pair of leaves cut from the construction paper.

Step 13

Glue the leaves to the back of the craft stick, and your handprint sunflower is complete!
