How to Make the Straw Painting Cloud Craft
What you need:
- white cardstock
- liquid watercolor paint (dark and light blue)
- paintbrush
- straw
- markers (black and red)
- scissors
- glue stick
Step by Step Tutorial
Start with a piece of white cardstock as your base.
Drop two generous drops of blue liquid watercolor paint onto the cardstock. We used darker and lighter blue paint.
Take a straw (optional: cut it in half for easier blowing) and have kids blow on the paint.
The air from the straw will move the paint across the paper.
Encourage them to blow more to create longer lines if the paint moves slowly.
Add more paint next to the previous drops.
Keep encouraging the kids to blow.
And spread the paint around.
Once they are happy with the paint design, flip the paper upside down. The paint lines will now look like rain!
Let it dry.
Grab another piece of white cardstock or white paper.
Draw a cloud shape with a black marker and add eyes and a mouth.
Use a red marker for some cute rosy cheeks.
Once the cloud design is complete, cut it out carefully.
Glue the cloud on top of the “rainy” lines.
The rainy cloud straw painting art is now complete!
This craft is great for kids to explore different painting techniques and to have fun with colors while practicing blowing through a straw.
It’s a simple and engaging way to combine creativity with motor skills!
This simple yet creative project will surely put a smile on everyone’s face.
