Valentine’s day is all about love and hearts, something that is perfectly captured in this simple Valentines day art.
Bring out your watercolors, or any other art supply, for that matter, and get ready to make this wonderful showcase piece.

This art project comes with a template that can be used when working with smaller kids or kids that need some confidence when it comes to creating art.
How to a Make Simple Valentines Day Art
What you need:
- template (optional)
- scissors
- art supplies (we love watercolors)
- black marker (optional)
- glue
- a sheet of construction paper (black works out really well, other colors are fine too)
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Print out the template.
You can use regular print paper, although we find that heavier print paper works out better.
Color in the template.
Watercolors will work out really great for this project; however, they are far from being the only art supply your kids can use. Crayons, pencils, markers, fingerprinting… Let your child’s imagination do its work.
No need to stick to one medium only either. You have the kids layer different art supplies (like using a white crayon and watercolors). They can color each heart with a different medium.
You can have the kids add patterns and/or textures to the hearts too.
Drawing different textures to hearts with black marker over watercolors works out pretty neat.
Once your kids are happy with how their hearts look, have them cut out the hearts.
Prepare the cardstock. We chose black as it really makes the hearts pop out.
Take the first heart (it doesn’t matter which one it is) and apply glue on the back.
Stick the heart on the paper, wherever you feel like.
Repeat with all other hearts, glue them one next to the other, overlapping, one over the other. Go with the flow and position them however you see fit.
All done! Your V-day work of art is complete.
It will make a nice classroom decoration, it will radiate love from the fridge, or it can even be tired into a nice Valentine’s day card!
