Valentine’s Day crafts don’t have to be complicated to be cute! This sending love art project is super simple; watercolors (or another media of your choice), paper, glue, done. But it looks really good when it’s finished. The hearts floating up from that little envelope? So sweet. And your kid will be ridiculously proud of what they made.

Perfect for a rainy afternoon at home, a classroom party, or just because you need something fun to do this February. Easy to set up, zero stress, and everyone has a good time.
You can have the kids create their own envelope or if you are short on time, just grab a bunch of old ones turning this project into recycled one or buy a pack of envelopes.

Let’s spread some love and get crafting!

How to Make the Sending Love Easy Valentine’s Day Art Idea
What you need:
- envelope and heart template
- scissors
- glue stick
- white art paper or cardstock
- coloring supplies (watercolor paints, markers)
- white marker (chalk or acrylic)
- optional: color papers
Step by Step Tutorial
You can secure the edges around the white cardstock with washi tape or masking tape to protect the surface below and also create a clean border.

Paint the paper surface. Watercolors are fun for this project but there are no limits to what your kids can use (we love paint sticks for a quick project when you are short on time).

Paint the entire area. Your kids can stick with one color or choose more.

Once the paint is dry, use a lighter-colored marker to draw swirls or any decorative patterns your child likes across the painted background.

Add some dots to the mix.

Carefully peel off the tape from all edges and set the artwork aside to dry completely.

Print out the envelope template and heart templates.

Cut out the envelope shape carefully along the full lines

Fold the envelope along the dashed lines.

Apply glue to the bottom flap, then press the side flaps down to form the envelope pocket.

Glue the finished envelope onto your dried artwork. Keep the envelope open.

Have your child color the heart templates (or cut out hearts from colored paper), then start gluing the hearts onto the envelope and aruond it.

Continue gluing the remaining hearts anywhere on the artwork, and let your children arrange them however they like!

All done!

You can frame the artwork to make it a lasting keepsake or special gift for grandparents.
