This paper strips craft idea is wonderful as a classroom craft as you will end up with a wonderful display of lovely hedgehogs.

I am a hedgehog fan (as you might have already noticed), have been since forever. These little forest dwellers were frequent visitors on our yard and they always were fun to observe. And to listen to… It’s pretty amazing how an animal as small as this can make noises that you would assume only elephant is capable of. Fun little creatures.

Let’s get back to this crafty activity, shall we?

Or follow these Step by Step Instructions

Cut a whole bunch of brown paper strips. We used a sheet of letter sized / A4 sized paper cut across the width for our strips. They were about as wide as a finger. There are no rules on the with and not all strips need to be the same. Keep it fun.

Once you have enough of paper strips (well once you feel you have enough of them as you can always add more later on), glue the ends of a paper strips together to make a loop. Repeat with all strips.

Grab the white (or other color) background and start gluing on the paper strips in a half circle shape.

We started at the outer edge and worked our way to the centre (we really recommend you check the video tutorial). Once you are happy with how the hedgehog spikes are starting to look, set aside.

Cut a round shaped body out of beige paper – you might need to measure it against the spikes to get the right size. Cut the legs and glue them on the back of the body.

Now glue the oval head on the white paper, gently pushing it on the spikes part too for the glue to set.

Draw facial features, a big nice smile, an oval nose and eyes. We used wiggle eye stickers are they are kind of cool.

You have one adorably cute paper strips hedgehog craft ready to be displayed on the wall.
