This polar bear craft is one of our favorite winter activities because it’s so easy to adapt for different age groups. Younger children will love the sensory experience of pulling apart cotton balls and creating fluffy texture, while older kids can add their own creative touches like drawing a snowy background or adding other arctic animals to create a scene.

This project pairs wonderfully with learning about polar bears and their arctic habitat. You can read books about polar bears before or after the craft, or even watch videos about these magnificent animals to make it an educational experience too!
Ready to get started? Let’s gather our materials and create this adorable fluffy friend!

How to Make the Paper Plate Polar Bear Craft
What you need:
- glue
- paper plate
- cotton wadding or cotton balls
- two tiny googly eyes
- black pompom
Step by Step Tutorial
You will need one paper plate for one polar bear.

If you are using cotton wadding, have kids tear large chunks and shape them into balls with their fingers.

Apply glue to the paper plate and press the cotton ball onto the spot.

Continue adding and gluing more cotton balls around the paper plate, creating a fluffy polar bear coat.

Once the outer edge is full, fill in the center.

When creating the inside, you can ask the kids to shape the balss differently. Have them make a larger ball for the snout to make it stand out a little.

Now, the polar bear’s face is taking shape!
Your paper plate polar bear base is ready!

For ears, glue two more giant cotton balls to the sides of the polar bear’s head.

Make sure to glue them on securely.

Apply two googly eyes to the center cotton balls, or use circles cut out of black paper.

Glue on a black pompom as a cute nose under the eyes.

All done!

You and your kids have created an adorable paper plate polar animal.

We think it is so cute and fluffy!
