These flightless birds are one of the coolest birds. Let your kids turn a regular paper plate into a fun-looking paper plate penguin craft.
You just have to love penguins! Their distinct colors make them one of the most recognized polar animals of them all, so if you have a lesson on polar animals, including a penguin craft is almost a must.

How to Make the Paper Plate Penguin Craft
What You Need:
- paper plate
- craft paints (tempera or acrylic)
- construction paper in various colors (yellow, black)
- glue
- paintbrush
- scissors
Step by Step Tutorial
You will need one paper plate for making one penguin.
Have the kids paint the outer edge of the paper plate black. It already looks like a penguin doesn’t it?
Older kids can add even more details. Have them paint a V shape at the top of the paper plate to define the penguin’s head.
Make the eyes. You can have the kids cut out two white circles and stick them to the paper plate (this is great if the paper plates aren’t 100% white).
Add smaller black circles or paint them in with black paint (or black marker).
Cut a yellow triangle (beak) and glue it in place.
Let’s make the penguin cute! Paint two pink circles under the eyes (next to the beak) to make the cheeks. You can also cut out the pink circles out of paper.
Cut out the feet out of yellow or orange paper.
Glue the feet onto the penguin.
Next, cut a pair of wings out of black paper and glue them onto the penguin’s body.
Have fun with this endearing Antarctic-inspired animal craft.
Where will you place yours?
A bunch of these sure look great on the classroom wall.
