DIY Paper Plate Elephant Craft

How to Make the Paper Plate Elephant Craft

What You Need:

  • paper plate
  • construction paper (gray or blue, and pink)
  • pale gray or blue paint
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • paintbrush
  • black marker
  • white gel marker/chalk marker (optional)

Step by Step Tutorial

You will need one paper plate to make one elephant craft.

Step 1

Paint the whole paper plate. Gray or blue are great choices if you are going for more realistic look (but any other color is fine).

Step 2

Cut out two large oval shapes out of blue or gray construction paper. Also cut out a pair of smaller oval shapes for the inside’s of the ears (kids can also paint this part).

Then, glue the pink onto the gray/blue one to make the ears.

Step 3

Glue both ears to the sides of the painted paper plate.

Step 4

Have your kids draw an elephant’s trunk on construction paper. It can be super simple or very detailed.

Step 5

Cut it out and glue it to the head.

Step 6

Draw a few black lines onto the trunk.

Step 7

Draw two large dots with a marker (or cut out two circles out of black paper and glue them onto the head).

Step 8

Cut out a pair of pink circles (or use a round sponge brush and pink paint) to make the cheeks.

Step 9

This is an optional step but we love it. Use white gel pen or a chalk marker and draw white dots inside the black eyes.

Step 10

Your kid’s paper plate elephant craft is now complete!

Step 11

Pretty cool, right?
