Step by Step Tutorial
Prepare a white cardstock base – you can also use the paper from cereal boxes; this is a great way to recycle them.

We’ll be making the ocean waves from two different colors of construction paper, blue and light blue.

Cut out a rectangle shapes from both papers. Then cut a wavy line on one side of the rectangles.

We made four, two from blue paper and two from light blue paper. Glue them in the background, with the waves slightly overlapping.

Cut out the beach out of brown paper and glue it on the bottom.

Let kids cut out a palm tree trunk shape from dark brown paper, then glue it to the beach and over the waves.

The easiest way to make the leaf is to fold a green paper rectangle in half and cut out a half-elipse shape (shape of the leaf).

Have the kids cut into the folded leaf, making fringes (do not have them cut the fold).

Apply glue to one half of the leaf and stick it onto the palm.

Repeat the process to have four (or more) leaves on your palm tree.

The palm tree has been adorned with four delightful palm tree leaves, giving the craft a vibrant and lush tropical appearance.

Let’s add a couple coconuts to the palm tree. You can cut paper circles out of brown paper and stick them to the tree or have the kids glue brown pom poms (or wrinkled tissue paper) on the palm.
