You can use many different materials to make the eyes for this ghost craft; if you are crafting with younger kids, googly eyes or paper are the best choices.
Beads and fabric and yarn scraps work out really great if you are doing this yourself or if you are working with older kids who already have good fine motor skills.
How to Make the Yarn Tassel Ghosts
What you need:
- glue
- scissors
- a piece of cardboard
- yarn
- paper (white and black) or other materials for the eyes
- black marker
Step by Step Tutorial
Grab a piece of cardboard and some yarn.
Wrap the yarn around the cardboard multiple times.
The more yarn you use, the fuller and fluffier the ghost will be!
Cut off the yarn when you’re done.
Cut a string of yarn.
Slide it under the wrapped bundle.
Grab the ends (you can loosely tie them here).
Now, pull the cardboard out while holding the yarn’s ends, making sure they don’t slide out.
Tie a knot at the top to keep your yarn bundled together.
Shape the yarn with your fingers to make it look like a spooky friend.
Use another piece of yarn to shape the head and body, tie it together with a knot.
It’s all coming together!
Cut the loops at the bottom of the body.
See your yarn tassel ghost come to life!
Cut two tiny, round eyes from white paper and glue them onto the ghost’s head.
You can also use googly eyes or fabric scraps to make the eyes.
Add a black circle for the mouth.
Finish up by drawing pupils in the eyes with a black marker.
Ta-da!
Your adorably spooky yarn ghost is ready to haunt your home with cuteness.
You can also knit in string to hang the ghost to make it into an ornament.
Who knew crafting a ghostly friend could be this fun and easy?
