If you haven’t planned your Christmas cards for the season we have another idea that you can add to your list – make this wonderful and more importantly, easy Christmas tree card.

You can keep it minimalistic and just have the tree, or you can decorate the tree with a star on top and even some baubles on the branches (pom poms, paper scraps, buttons all work out nicely).

  • green paper
  • white paper
  • brown paper
  • scissors
  • glue

Step by Step Tutorial

If you don’t have a card, you can easily make one out of a sheet of construction paper (A4 / letter sizes).

For younger kids, just fold the sheet of paper in half to get one big card. For older kids, fold the paper in half, cut it and fold again to get two card bases.

Lets make a background for our tree. This will give a card a nicer look as it will have a “frame”.

Place a sheet of white paper (or any other color) on top of the card. Cut around, using the card as a stencil for the rectangle.

Trim the edges of the rectangle to make it smaller than the card, apply glue on the back and stick the rectangle paper on the card.

Next, cut triangles out of green paper.

They can all be the same size, or you can make one smaller (the one that will be on top of the tree).

Take the first triangle, hold it at the top and start cutting slits into paper. Make one on the left side and one on the right side of the triangle first.

Make the strips of paper as thin as possible. Don’t cut all the way through.

Repeat with the remaining two triangles.

Curl the paper a little bit by running it around your fingers (or pencil if it’s easier).

Cut a brown rectangle and stick it on the card.

Apply glue at the top of the triangle that you have cut…

…and stick it on the card.

Glue the other two on top of the first one.

If you want to decorate your tree a bit, cut a star shape and stick it on top of the tree.
