How to Make the Father’s Day Handprint Card
What you need:
- white cardstock
- scissors
- glue stick
- paint (brown or a color matching Dad’s hair)
- sponge point dabber
- construction paper (brown for the mustache, yellow for the tie, and a larger sheet for the background – blue works great!)
- 2 googly eyes
- markers
Step by Step Tutorial
Trace the child’s hand onto a piece of white paper and carefully cut out the shape.
Grab a sponge point dabber and dip it into your chosen paint color (it can match Dad’s hair color). Press your finger onto the dabber to pick up the paint.

Start pressing your finger onto each finger of the handprint shape.

Continue until all fingers are filled with fingerprints. Set aside to let it dry.

While the paint is drying, cut out a mustache shape from brown paper (or any color that matches Dad’s mustache).
Once the paint on the fingers is dry, glue the mustache onto the palm area of the handprint.

Glue two googly eyes just above the mustache.

Glue the decorated handprint onto your larger piece of colored background paper.

Cut a tie shape out of yellow construction paper.

Use markers to draw lines, patterns, or shapes onto the tie to customize it.
Glue the finished tie to the bottom part of the handprint palm, just below the mustache.

Use a marker to draw a mouth below the mustache to complete the expression.

Write “Happy Father’s Day!” (or another thoughtful message) onto a small strip of white paper and glue it beside the tie.
