How to Make the Paper Snowman Mosaic Art
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- pencil or crayon
- scissors
- glue stick
- paper scraps (black, white, brown, and orange)
- blue cardstock
Step by Step Tutorial
Using a white crayon or chalk, have your kids draw a simple snowman outline. It should have two or three large circles stacked on top of each other.
You can use our printable template if you wish, and choose among many different snowman outlines and designs.
Have them draw the snowman’s arms.
Ask your kids to sketch a top hat shape on the snowman’s head using the crayon.
Next come the mosaic tiles. This is a great way to use up small scraps of paper in different colors.
Your kids can either cut or tear the paper into smaller pieces.
Shapes can be regular or irregular, both work well for this project.
Have your kids start gluing the black paper scraps within the hat outline to fill it in.
Have them fill up the whole hat area.
Repeat with white paper for the snowman’s head and body.
Cut thin strips of brown paper to make twig-like arms for the snowman.
Have your kids glue these on the sides of the snowman.
Cut and glue small black circles for the eyes.
Add a few more tiny circles for the mouth and an orange triangle shape for the nose.
Cut out two black paper circles and have kids glue them as snowman’s buttons.
Let the mosaic art dry and display it proudly.
Your kids’ unique snowman is ready to spread holiday cheer!
