Learn how to make this funky looking paper plate penguin craft.
You only need one paper plate in order to make this winter craft, and a little bit of imagination.
We decided that we’re going to make today “World Penguin Day”. What do you think about that? Why not, huh? We find penguins to be super interesting.
Have you seen them scratching their backs on ice flores? So funny, right? That is the only way they can scratch, they don’t have flexible hands as bears do.
They don’t have hands at all, just two wings. And guess what? They can’t fly! What? That is right, but they can hug each other and swim in the ocean.
Yeah, penguins like hugs and swimming, and that makes them super special birds.
So, today we are going to make Buddy Pow, a paper plate penguin.
How to Make a Paper Plate Penguin Craft
What you need:
- one paper plate
- two self-adhesive googly eyes
- a sparkly-white, self-adhesive foam sheet
- sparkly-orange, self-adhesive foam sheet
- black acrylic paint
- white acrylic paint
- orange acrylic paint
- ruler with circle shapes
Step by Step Instructions
Let’s add Buddy Pow to the world’s penguin waddle.
Start by drawing a circular shape with your pencil and finish with a heart-like top as shown in the first picture.
Head and Face
Make a second circular shape. That would be our penguin’s head and face.
Draw two paddle-like legs at the bottom of the paper plate.
Color the inside of the circle with the white acrylic paint.
Color the legs with the orange acrylic paint.
Then color the rest of the space with the black acrylic paint.
Take the self-adhesive googly eyes and glue them on the face.
Cut a triangle shape from the self-adhesive orange sheet …
… and add it as a nose.
Draw a dozen different-sized circles on the back of the black self-adhesive foam sheet (use your ruler with circular shapes) …
… then cut them out …
… and place them on the penguin’s body.
Draw two wing shapes with your pencil.
Take your scissors and cut around the head, the wings, and the legs.
Now we wait for some snow to fall, then we’ll go and place Buddy Pow on snowpack in the yard.
After that, we’ll go around and pick some pebbles from the ground and place them near Buddy Pow, because they are his favorite toys to play with.
