This polar bear craft is a perfect addition to polar animals unit in your classroom. It’s also a fun winter themed art project to explore in your home.

How to Make the Newspaper Polar Bear Craft
What you need:
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- old newspaper (or old magazines)
- blue construction paper
- markers (black and white)
Step by Step Tutorial
Blue construction paper works out best for this project (you can of course use other colors as well).
Have your kids draw a circle on a piece of newspaper for the polar bear’s head.
Have them draw two separate ears.
Cut out the head and ears.
We’ll need another piece of newspaper for the body.
Let’s make it a half oval shape and cut it out.
Glue the body on the paper first. Next glue on the head and the pair of ears.
This step is optional, but if you want a more prominent snout, have the kids cut another oval shape and glue it on top.
Black marker is the easiest to use for the next step (although brush and paints work too).
Paint a half circle shape inside of the polar bear’s ears.
Then, have the kids use the marker to draw the eyes, nose, and mouth on the polar bear’s face.
You can also add snowflakes. Chalk markers are great for this.
Kids can also use their fingers and paint or Q-tips to make them.
All done!
Such a fun winter themed and eco-friendly artwork.
We hope this craft will spark more ideas for polar animals, as penguins can be made in the same manner as well.
