How to Make the Easy Hot Glue Tin Foil Heart Craft
What you need:
- piece of cardboard
- pencil
- hot glue gun (adult use) or low temp glue gun
- aluminum foil (tin foil)
- permanent markers (cool and warm color tones)
Tip: If you are working with younger kids and don’t want to use a glue gun and easy alternative is using yarn dipped in white glue.
Step by Step Tutorial
Start by drawing a big, bold heart on the cardstock with a pencil.
Get creative by drawing straight, abstract lines across the heart and extending outward from its outline to the edges of the cardstock.
Use hot glue (for adults only) to carefully trace over the heart and all the abstract lines, ensuring every line is raised and defined.
For younger kids, have them dip yarn into white glue (dilute it with water a little) and stick it on the lines they drew. The drying will take a little longer, so I suggest you make this a two-session project.
Let it dry completely.
Smooth out a piece of aluminum foil so it’s bigger than your cardstock heart.
Gently press the foil over the heart.
Use your fingers to feel and reveal the glue outlines underneath. Press around the whole design so the heart shape pops beautifully.
Fold the foil edges neatly to the back of the cardstock.
Now the fun part. Using permanent markers, have kids color the heart with warm tones.
Fill the background with cool tones.
We used shades of blues and greens to fill in the spaces.
