Winter months are the best time to cozy up in a warm room and make some winter crafts and activities with your kids (a cup of hot cocoa also makes all the difference). This snowman activity is a great one as it’s a joint project.

How to Make the Dry Erase Snowman Activity

What you need:

  • pencil
  • cardboard
  • compass (optional)
  • acrylic paint (white)
  • paintbrush
  • markers (black, orange, and colors of your choice)
  • contact paper (best) or transparent tape
  • piece of clean cloth

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Start by drawing a snowman outline on cardboard.

Step 1

Paint the snowman’s body white (acrylic or craft paints).

Step 2

Now let’s make this a dry erase project. It’s best if you use contact paper, as you can cover the whole area with a single sheet.

If you don’t have contact paper, you can use clear tape to cover the snowman.

Step 3

Cover the area from top to bottom.

Step 4

The fun can now begin! Give kids dry erase markers (as many colors as you can get) and let them design their own snowman.

Step 5

How they make their snowman is entirely up to them.

Step 6

They can add some buttons on the snowman’s belly.

Step 7

An orange carrot nose or a round red nose. Whatever they want!

Step 8

They can also add other details, such as a scarf, a hat, twig arms… The possibilities are endless.

Step 9

When kids are done and ready to draw another snowman, just have them wipe away their creation and start over.

Step 11

Ta-da! The snowman canvas is all set for another round of creativity.

Step 12

This time, have kids make a snowman with a whole new look.

Step 13

Have them draw a nose.

Step 14

And a scarf.

Step 15

Great job! Now that they’ve finished two awesome snowmen, they can repeat the fun process repeatedly.
