How to Make a Doily Winter Window Craft
What you need:
- scissors
- glue
- white doily
- paper (to protect the crafting table)
- construction paper (white and brown)
- watercolor paints or other painting supplies, such as tempera or craft paints (blue and pink)
- paintbrush
- white marker
Step by Step Tutorial
Start with a sheet of white cardstock or art paper.
Be sure to protect the surface underneath as things can get messy.
Have your kids use watercolors or other painting supplies to create a winter sky.
We think a combination of blue and light purple works great for the scene.
Allow the paint to dry, then have kids draw white dots as snow using a paint or a white chalk marker.
Cut out strips from brown construction paper for the window frame. Cardboard will look even better, but it can be hard to cut for the little ones (you can however prepare it beforehand).
Glue the top and bottom frame pieces.
Then, attach the side frame parts.
Glue two strips of brown paper in a criss-cross pattern to complete the window.
Prepare a white doily.
Cut the white doily in half, then cut that half in half again.
These doily parts will serve as the window’s curtains.
We will glue them in the next step.
Have kids glue the doily curtain pieces to the top corners of the window, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
All done? Awesome job!
Your kids have just transformed a simple window into a magical winter wonderland.
Now, let’s find the perfect spot to show off their masterpiece!
How about hanging it in their bedroom or playroom? Or, make it the star of your living room, where everyone can admire the creative skills of your kiddos!
