How to Bring Your Disguise a Ghost Printables to Life
Why reserve a disguise project only for turkeys when you can make something all year long? We’ve created a variety of printable templates for this haunt-tastic craft, so choose whichever version fits your classroom or crafting session best!
What you’ll need:
- our printable ghost templates
- paper (sturdy cardstock is ideal, but standard printer paper works great too!)
- your favorite coloring supplies
Simply print your chosen sheets, pass them out, and watch the little ghosts vanish into incredible new lookalikes!
Add a Creative Writing Twist
Turn this spooky craft into an engaging literacy lesson! Once your students finish dressing up their phantom, challenge them to write a short story to accompany it. They can write a detailed description of the ghost’s new identity, draft an undercover mystery, or explain why their ghost needed a costume to blend in with the living.
Disguise a Ghost Ideas
Whether you’re a teacher planning a Halloween bulletin board or a parent looking for a festive rainy-day craft, here are ten imaginative disguise ideas to get the creative spirits flowing!
1. Penguin Ghost with Orange Feet and a Yellow Scarf

This ghost turns into a penguin with just a few colors. Leave the belly and face white, color the rest of the body black, and add an orange beak and feet. A little yellow scarf around the neck finishes the look.
Markers work great for this one. If you want a bit of texture, cut the beak and feet from orange craft foam or felt and glue them on instead.
2. Yellow Snail Ghost with a Spiral Shell

To make a snail, color the ghost yellow and draw two eye stalks on top of its head. The shell goes behind the ghost, so it looks like the snail is carrying it on its back. Add a little wavy tail at the bottom and you’re done.
Color the shell brown and draw a spiral in the middle. Want a 3D shell? Roll a long strip of paper into a coil and glue it to the back instead.
3. Bee Ghost with Black Stripes and Blue Wings

Color the ghost yellow and add two thick black stripes across the body. Draw feathery antennae on top and a pointy black stinger at the bottom. The blue wings are cut out of paper and glued to the back so they stick out on both sides.
For see-through wings, try clear cellophane or a piece cut from a plastic sheet protector.
4. Princess Ghost with a Crown and Gem Dress

This princess ghost has brown hair in two buns, a yellow paper crown, and a pink dress. Color the hair, then cut the crown and dress from paper and glue them on. The dress is the fun part, because you get to decorate it with sticker gems.
No gems? Use sequins, glitter glue, or small beads instead.
5. Gray Bunny Ghost with Floppy Ears

Color the ghost light gray, then add a pink nose, two big front teeth, and a few whiskers. Long floppy ears on top turn it into a bunny right away.
Whiskers are easy to draw with a thin marker. You could also glue on short pieces of thread or yarn. Gray felt makes soft, floppy ears too.
6. Bat Ghost with Googly Eyes and Paper Wings

Color the ghost dark gray or black, stick on two googly eyes, and glue two small white fangs under the smile. Then cut a pair of bat wings from black paper and attach them to the sides.
Here’s a twist: cut the wings from an old black sock or a scrap of black fabric to give them a different look.
7. Cactus Ghost with Spines and Prickly Arms

Color the ghost green and draw darker green lines from top to bottom for the ridges. Add two curved arms on the sides and finish with small black lines all over for the spines.
The arms can be drawn right on the page, or you can cut them out of green paper and glue them on. Green pipe cleaners bent into arms work well too.
8. Mermaid Ghost with Red Hair and a Green Tail

For the mermaid, cut a bob of red hair and a green tail from paper and glue them onto the ghost. Draw little wavy lines on the tail for scales, and add lines on the tail fin too.
Swap the green paper for shiny wrapping paper or foil to give the tail some sparkle.
9. Rainbow Unicorn Ghost with a Horn

The ghost stays white for this one. Color a rainbow mane down the back, then add a yellow horn and two pink-centered ears on top. The horn and ears are cut out and glued on so they stand out from the head.
Use colorful yarn for the mane if you’d like it to look fluffy.
10. Black Ninja Ghost with a Sword and Throwing Stars

Color the ghost black, but leave a white strip for the eyes. Add a blue belt and a blue sash across the chest, then draw a sword behind the back and a couple of throwing stars at the side.
Silver or gray markers are perfect for the sword and the stars. You can also cut them from aluminum foil and glue them on so they shine.
