Step by Step Tutorial
Grab a craft stick and get ready to build the cheekiest little monkey in the jungle!

Have kids paint the craft stick brown and set it aside to dry before moving on.

Take a brown chenille stick and leave one end sticking out to one side for the first arm.

Guide the kids to start wrapping the rest of the string around the upper section of the craft stick.

Finish wrapping and leave the other end sticking out on the opposite side to create the second arm.
Two cheeky little monkey arms done!

Repeat the same process with another chenille stick for the legs.

Leave one end out for the first leg, wrap the middle around the craft stick, and leave the other end out for the second leg.

Take a fresh chenille stick and have kids start wrapping it just below the arm section, working their way down toward the legs.

Keep wrapping all the way down, and once kids reach the bottom, guide them to curl the remaining end of the chenille stick into a long, swooping tail.
Every monkey needs a good tail!

Cut two brown circles and two smaller white circles from paper.
Glue the white ones on top of the brown ones, then attach the finished ears to the top of the craft stick.

Cut an ellipse shape from pale yellow paper and have kids glue it onto the lower part of the face to create the monkey’s snout.

Using a black marker, have kids draw a wavy smile and two small nostrils onto the snout.

Press two googly eyes above the snout, and just like that, this little monkey is completely full of personality!

Aren’t they adorable?

Perfect for jungle-themed imaginative play and storytelling, they also look fantastic displayed on a shelf or desk!
