We love all the colors the spring brings! Oh and the flowers!
These craft stick flowers are perfect either for Valentines (the oh so versatile heart shape) or as a lovely kid made Mother’s Day gift.
They are pretty simple to make and have a cool wow factor as they open up and reveal the message within.
If you are making this project with younger kids, we do recommend you use jumbo craft sticks and make larger heart flowers as they will be easier to cut. Older kids can easily make small ones.

Step by Step How to Instructions
Paint the craft sticks green. Let the paint dry.
Fold the flower colored construction paper (reds, pinks and violets work really well).
Draw a heart shape with top of the heart touching the fold (this is important).
Cut out the heart shape but be careful to not cut the fold at the top of the heart (the two bumps). This will make the heart open and close like a card.
Cut a smaller heart shape out of yellow paper (you can trace the first heart and trim it a bit to make a smaller shape).
Glue on the heart shaped flower.
