How to Make the 3D Paper Loop Heart Valentine’s Day Craft
What you need:
- our printable template (heart frame and strips)
- construction paper or cardstock (for the heart)
- regular paper (for the strips)
- scissors
- glue or glue stick
- coloring supplies (optional)
Step by Step Tutorial
Print the templates. Print the double heart frame template on construction paper or cardstock. We recommend red, pink, or any Valentine’s Day colors, but feel free to use any color your heart desires! Print the strips template on regular paper.
You can also print everything on white paper and have the kids color in the templates however they see fit.
Cut out the heart frame. Carefully cut around the outer edge of the double heart. Then cut out the inner heart as well, creating a heart-shaped frame. This is where all the magic will happen!
Cut the paper strips. Cut out all the rectangular strips from the printed sheet. These will become the fun 3D loops that give your heart its dimensional pop!
Make paper loops. Take each strip and bring the two ends together, creating a loop. Apply glue or use tape to secure the ends together. Repeat this process for all your strips.
Glue the loops onto the heart. This is where the fun begins! Apply glue to one side of each paper loop and stick them onto the heart frame. You can cluster them together or spread them out.
Let it dry. Allow the glue to dry completely, and you’re done! Easy peasy!
Want to add even more fun? Have the kids draw patterns on the hearts before making them into loops, or use different colored strips for a rainbow heart effect!
