We do love making all kinds of pumpkin crafts this time of the year, and this particular one will appeal to younger kids – its insanely easy to make, and provides a good fine motor skill workout. Not to mention it looks really artsy once it’s complete.

Ready to make your own? Let’s get to it.

How to Make a Tissue Paper Mosaic Pumpkin Paper Plate Craft

Mosaic Pumpkin Paper Plate Craft

What you need

  • A paper plate
  • Craft glue
  • Tissue paper-orange, black (old napkins work out great too)
  • Green pipe cleaner
  • Paintbrush

Step by Step Tutorials

Cut the orange tissue paper up into squares between 1”-2”, we used two shades of orange to give it a more mosaic effect.

Depending on age of kids making this craft, you can let your child do this to give them a little fine motor skills practice. You can also tear paper.

Drizzle glue all over the backside of paper plate, let your little one use a paintbrush to spread glue all over plate, right up to the edge.

Now lay out your tissue paper pieces and let your child cover the back completely in orange pieces in a random pattern, you may need to add a bit more glue here and there so that it sticks well.

Add a little glue to the eye, mouth, and nose are. Now your child can pick out their favorite pieces from the black tissue you cut to create their own unique pumpkin face.

Allow paper plate to dry completely. Trim off excess tissue hanging off edges if you like or you can leave it rustic.

Grab a green pipe cleaner and wrap it around your finger to create a cute curly vine for the top. Flip over your plate and tape it securely to the back.

Cut, glue, repeat to create an entire pumpkin army!
